Tribe Triathlon Club Management Plan

13 October 2016

This document aims to provide a strategic direction for the Committee over the next 3 – years.  It doesn’t aim to be a detailed plan but a strategic direction.  Currently the three key objectives for the club are to

  1. grow the membership base,
  2. provide value for money to members by most revenue coming from Fox MTB Duathlon open race, and
  3. Provide a range of own club race events and training sessions in an inclusive, relaxed and family friendly way.

Objective:  Grow membership base.

Over the last couple of years the number of members has plateaued and even fallen.  Compulsory membership to TA contributed to this, however the club is aligned with this strategic direction and supports it.

Plan:  Develop a promotion plan to increase active membership base.  This may include

-                advertising campaigns (most likely aligned with our events)

-                targeting off-season sports clubs

-                come and try events

-                better utilisation of Tribe banners in public areas

Timing:  Have in place prior to end 2016.

Objective:  Continue to offer low club membership costs and provide excellent value for money for members.

Over the last 4 – 5 years much of the revenue for the club has been provided by the open Fox MTB Duathlon event.  This has allowed the club to keep membership costs down, subsidise events (eg training weekend), offer free racing for members and not need to ask members to be involved with other fundraising activities.  This event is viewed as a key priority for the club.

  1. Continue to provide a quality event at Fox MTB Duathlon to continue to grow the event.
  2. Make Fox MTB Duathlon more sustainable from an organising perspective by increasing the number of people involved in organising the event and develop a succession plan so that the departure of a key organiser will not jeopardise the event.
  3. Seek alternate major sponsorship now that we don’t have a committee member working for Thomas Foods.
  4. Obtain access to electronic timing to improve the professionalism and volunteer workload on race day.  Seeking grant money to purchase our own system is the preferred method.
  5. Purchase other race day and safety equipment in line with the needs of the growth of the Fox MTB Duathlon and other events.

  1. Continue to grow the Fox MTB Duathlon
  2. Grow the Strathalbyn race
  3. Each year look at venues to hold club races to keep up interest level for our competitors
  4. Review options to provide a year round swimming option for members now that the Inverbrackie pool is not a financially viable option.
